A Special Connection Behind the Camera

More than a decade of collaboration, over 20 productions, and a creative connection that goes far beyond photography.

Some encounters develop into something you could never have imagined at the beginning. When I first welcomed Eleni Mi into my photography studio in June 2015, I certainly didn’t expect it to become one of the longest and most versatile collaborations of my photographic career.

It all started quite naturally. A make-up artist I had worked with before asked whether she could bring someone along to a photoshoot. I agreed – and that someone was Eleni.

That first meeting marked the beginning of a collaboration that still holds a very special place in my photographic work today.

More Than 20 Productions – Never Quite the Same

What makes working with Eleni so fascinating is her remarkable versatility.

Over the years, we have created more than 20 productions, and looking back at the photographs, I am struck by how different each one has been.

Sometimes we focused on classic beauty, sometimes on glamorous settings, expressive fashion photography or playful creative concepts.

From minimalist beauty portraits and elegant lingerie photography to elaborate styling and colourful scenes, we have continuously explored new visual directions together.

What I particularly appreciate is Eleni’s ability to embrace completely different photographic worlds.

In one image, she can appear quiet, delicate and almost dreamlike. In the next, she radiates confidence, strength and extraordinary energy.

For me, this ability to transform is what makes a model truly interesting. It is not about repeating familiar poses, but about being willing to explore new ideas and bring a personal expression to every concept.

When Movement Becomes a Visual Language

One of Eleni’s great passions is dancing.

She loves Latin American dance and performs as part of dance formations, including public performances.

This experience naturally influences the way she moves in front of the camera.

Dancers develop an exceptional awareness of their bodies, of posture, tension, balance, rhythm and movement.

With Eleni, this awareness often becomes visible during our photoshoots.

Her poses frequently seem to emerge naturally from movement. A slight turn, a change in posture, the positioning of her arms or a shift in body tension can suddenly transform the entire atmosphere of an image.

As a photographer, I find this incredibly inspiring.

There are moments when you are no longer simply capturing a pose. You are capturing an expression created by the movement itself.

And quite often, those spontaneous moments become the most fascinating photographs of the entire production.

How Trust Changes Photography

Working together for such a long time naturally changes the relationship between photographer and model.

You get to know each other, recognise strengths, understand individual characteristics and develop a feeling for what matters to the other person.

Over time, professional collaboration grows into a deeper sense of mutual trust.

And I believe that trust becomes visible in the photographs.

You no longer need to explain every idea in detail. Sometimes a few words, a small gesture or a glance are enough to understand where a scene is heading.

It also creates a wonderful kind of creative freedom.

The freedom to experiment, to try unusual ideas and to explore concepts without knowing exactly what the final result will look like.

I believe this mutual trust is one of the main reasons why our work has remained so varied and exciting over the years.

Many Photographs, Many Sides of a Personality

Looking through our photographs today, I see much more than a collection of beauty, fashion and glamour images.

I see the development of a shared photographic story.

There are intense beauty portraits where a single glance or subtle gesture carries the entire image.

There are colourful productions featuring striking accessories, extravagant outfits and a playful approach to fashion.

Other photographs reveal a softer, more romantic side, while some are defined by confidence and a powerful presence.

What I particularly enjoy is that Eleni can continually reinvent herself in front of the camera without losing her own personality.

Perhaps that is the secret of a truly successful creative collaboration: not producing the same image over and over again, but discovering new perspectives together.

A Story I Hope Will Continue

Eleni Mi is one of those people who have made photography a particularly meaningful experience for me over the years.

Every production has its own story, its own atmosphere and its own memories.

And despite the many different concepts we have already explored, I certainly don’t feel that we have run out of ideas.

Quite the opposite.

I sincerely hope we will have the opportunity to work together again, develop new concepts and add more chapters to this long photographic journey.

Because some creative connections don’t become less exciting with time – they become even more valuable.
